Your personal Power is the ability to actually follow through on what you set out to do. You might know the feeling of having great ideas and getting very excited about them and then when it comes to implementation or execution, the energy falls flat and you just can’t get yourself to do it. And other times, it’s effortless.

You know what it feels like when you push yourself through your day to get the things done you know you need to do. But really you’re dragging your feet along the way and nothing really cool gets created. You tend to stick to the simple tasks because your energy is too low. You know you have tools to motivate yourself but you don’t have the energy to use them. Why?

Because YOUR BATTERY IS LOW. You only have as much follow through as you have charge on your battery of personal power. So how to you charge it?

Here is how:

When you’re run out, run down, spent- you’re on red. That’s when only rest will help. Ignoring your body’s need for rest will land you in bed involuntarily with burn out, exhaustion or illness.

So once you’re a bit rested your battery is on red and maybe verging on the yellow. To charge from here you need to chill- relax. Take baths, walks, read a book, listen to music, drink a glass of wine with a friend, watch a show, burn candles and write your diary. Relax and self-nurture. Put on a face mask, get a massage- want more?

After the charge goes up further you’ll want to level up with fun. In my world that would be going out to the theatre, movie, comedy. Stand up is prescription medicine in my world and you might have a different variety of fun. Theme parks, days out with friends and family, quality time. Have fun.

from here you’ll want to introduce physical activity to charge your personal power. You don’t have to become an athlete but a lot of strength and endurance is needed in business so you might as well…

And when you’re in green you will WANT to take action. It’s just how you roll when you’re charged. And one step up from that is inspired action, where making things happen is a natural extension of you, it’s just what you do, it flows through you. It feels so effortless and joyful you are loving it.

Your battery levels are changing. You can charge at any time. I recommend not to let yourself go to red too much.

And I know life situations that drain the battery quickly- just like the cold gets a lithium battery, your personal power is affected by emotional and hormonal temperatures.

Your cycle affects you as much as lengthy arguments with people you care about.

And if you lack sleep because your kid got ill, that will over time have an impact.

When it comes to the charging, notice that fun and physical activity can go hand in hand as can relaxing and fun or action and fun- the marks are pointers not rules.

I for example need a strong fun or relaxing element to keep me motivated for physical activity. Aerial Yoga is certainly more relaxing and Pole dancing strikes the fun part into the physical. And both charge my battery so that taking action and inspired action becomes possible.

as your body is the container of your energy-the physical element is important for the sustainability and capacity for holding and making  your energy available to you.
